Abramenko Mikhail Vladimirovich

Mikhail Abramenko — Major, Head of Flight Safety Service and Senior Pilot of the 15th Army Aviation Brigade of the 6th Air Force and Air Defense Army, Ka-52 helicopter crew commander. Born on August 31, 1978, in Derbent, in 2001 he graduated from the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots.

Russian regional sources report his participation in operations in the North Caucasus, in a UN mission in Chad, and in the Russian military operation in Syria. On December 4, 2022, his helicopter was shot down over the Luhansk region; Abramenko died. On March 11, 2023, he was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation.

Major Abramenko, as the commander of a Ka-52 combat helicopter crew, actively participated in the aggressive war against Ukraine by carrying out combat sorties aimed at supporting ground operations. His actions contributed to the conduct of hostilities that resulted in destruction and civilian casualties. On December 4, 2022, his helicopter was shot down over Luhansk Oblast, resulting in his death and the loss of a valuable combat asset, demonstrating a failure to ensure flight safety in the active combat zone.
