Case summary
Vladislav Nikolaevich Ershov (born September 8, 1975, Naro-Fominsk, Moscow Oblast) is a Lieutenant General (since February 18, 2021, Decree No. 104; previously Major General since December 12, 2013, Decree No. 907). Since February 2019, he commanded the 6th Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District.
The army under his command operated in the Chernihiv/Sumy direction in the first weeks of the invasion of Ukraine in February-March 2022.
On March 22, 2022, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu removed Ershov from his post due to excessive personnel losses — according to Ukrainian journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk (not independently confirmed), the losses of the 6th Army at that time exceeded 2,000 servicemen, including about 180 conscripts; according to the same data, the general was placed under house arrest.
He is included in Ukraine's sanctions list (NAZK registry) as a commander of a Russian Armed Forces unit directly involved in the illegal invasion of Ukraine.
