A journalistic investigation by nikcenter.org identified Pytikov as the commander of the 56th Guards Air Assault Regiment at the time of the invasion and linked the regiment's air assault battalion to the killing of six security guards of an agricultural enterprise and the death of a minor girl in the village of Pravdyne, Kherson Oblast, on the night of April 11-12, 2022 (bodies with signs of execution were found under the rubble of a house blown up to conceal the crime).
