The Industrial Citadel of Vovchansk
The Vovchansk Aggregate Plant, a sprawling industrial manufacturing complex on the banks of the Vovcha River, became the central stronghold for Russian assault units during the May 2024 northern Kharkiv campaign.
The Encirclement and Liberation
In June 2024, Ukrainian defense forces severed ground resupply lines to the plant, trapping dozens of Russian servicemen from the 83rd VDV Brigade and 138th Motorized Rifle Brigade in industrial basements for over two months before the complex was successfully liberated by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR).
