The 1st Guards Tank Red Banner Army is a formation of the Russian Ground Forces, belonging to the Moscow Military District. The army's command is administratively linked to the Moscow Oblast. In September 2025, the Russian Ministry of Defense publicly named Major General Igor Tomshin as the army commander. The old reference to the Western Military District should only be kept in the subordination history.
