Since 2022, front-line aviation units of the 11th Air Force and Air Defense Army, including regiments of the 303rd Division, have been operating against Ukraine in the South Donetsk direction in the interests of the "Vostok" (East) group of forces. On September 18, 2024, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the 11th Air Force and Air Defense Army was awarded the honorary title "Guards," and in November 2022, an aviation regiment from Komsomolsk-on-Amur received the Guards title.
