The 68th Guards Motorized Rifle Sevastopol Red Banner Division named after the Latvian Riflemen is a formation of the 6th Guards Combined Arms Red Banner Army of the Leningrad Military District. It was formed in 2025 by expanding the 25th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade. In January 2026, the Russian Ministry of Defense publicly used the name 68th Motorized Rifle Division. The card for the 25th brigade should be retained as a historical predecessor and redirect to the division.

The division was formed in 2025 by reorganizing the 25th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Sevastopol Brigade, whose personnel immediately engaged in battles for Kharkiv in February 2022. The first mentions of battles involving the 68th Division itself date back to late March 2025 — assault groups fought near the village of Krasne Pershe on the western bank of the Oskil River north of Kupyansk; on June 30, 2025, the division fought in the Radkivka area on the northern outskirts of Kupyansk. The most significant episode is the encirclement of Kupyansk: assault detachments of the 68th Division, performing an outflanking maneuver, captured crossings over the Oskil River south of the city and, in cooperation with the 47th Motorized Rifle Division and the 27th Brigade of the 1st Tank Army, blocked the Ukrainian Armed Forces grouping on the left bank east of Kupyansk (this episode was noted by the Russian Ministry of Defense on November 21, 2025). On December 2, 2025, the division's 1009th Motorized Rifle Regiment, as part of a troop grouping, completed, according to the Russian side, the liberation of Vovchansk, Kharkiv Oblast; as of mid-December 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command reported counterattacks and the return of several settlements (Radkivka, Kondrashivka) in this sector.
