The 70th Motorized Rifle Division was created in 2023 as part of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District (formed from units of the 22nd Army Corps of the Black Sea Fleet's Coastal Troops and the 40th Combined Arms Army Corps). The division includes the 24th, 26th, 28th Motorized Rifle Regiments and the 17th Tank Regiment. In September 2023, the division was redeployed to the left bank of the Dnieper River in Kherson Oblast; in early October 2023, shortly before the landing of Ukrainian marines near Krynky, the division's positions in this sector were taken over by the 810th Separate Naval Infantry Brigade.
