The 132nd Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade grew out of the 2014 Donetsk militia "Berkut" and received the honorary titles "Horlivka" and "Guards" even before 2022. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the brigade has been fighting almost continuously on the Horlivka sector of the front, and in 2025, it participated in the capture of Toretsk (Dzerzhynsk); its commander, Sergey Naymushin, was awarded the title Hero of Russia.

The 132nd Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Horlivka Brigade (military unit 08803) was formed on October 14, 2014, based on I. G. Bezler's units, as the "3rd Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade 'Berkut'." For battles in February 2015 in the settlements of Ozeryanivka, Mykhailivka, as well as for Debaltseve and Vuhlehirsk, the brigade received the honorary designation "Horlivka," and on November 11, 2015, the title "Guards" (by order of the DPR Minister of Defense). Until January 1, 2023, it was part of the DPR People's Militia, then the 1st Donetsk Army Corps (since 2024 — the 51st Combined Arms Army). In 2022, it participated in the battles for Volnovakha, then defended Horlivka as part of the "South" grouping; in November 2023, the 3rd Battalion "Lavina" repelled a massive infantry attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the Horlivka ash dumps; on February 7, 2025, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the brigade's liberation of the city of Toretsk (Dzerzhynsk) north of Donetsk.
