The 2nd Red Banner Air Defense Division (military unit 10953) is an air defense formation of the 6th Air and Air Defense Army (Western Military District), created in 2009 on the basis of the 54th Air Defense Corps. Its composition includes anti-aircraft missile regiments equipped with S-300PM/S-400 and 'Pantsir-S1' (military unit 90450, Gostilitsy), S-400/'Buk' (military unit 55584), as well as radio-technical regiments in St. Petersburg and Petrozavodsk. As an object air defense formation of the Northwest, the division performs tasks of covering Russia's airspace; no documented data on the redeployment of its units to the territory of Ukraine has been found in open sources.
