Pilots of the brigade have been participating in combat operations against Ukraine since 2022: in February 2022, airborne assault groups of the formation operated on Mi-8 and Mi-35 helicopters. On April 27, 2023, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 308, the brigade was awarded the honorary title "Guards" with the presentation of the St. George ribbon — the award is directly linked to participation in the war.
