Involvement in crimes / areas of activity

The 126th Separate Guards Horlivka Twice Red Banner Coastal Defense Brigade (military unit 12676) was formed on August 28, 2014, by merging the 36th Coastal Defense Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy (which defected to the Russian Federation) and the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet. At the beginning of the 2022 invasion, the brigade made a forced march into Kherson Oblast to the area of the North Crimean Canal and captured a bridge, repelling counterattacks for three days — it was reported that nine attacks were repelled and 23 units of enemy armored vehicles were destroyed. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, by mid-April 2022, the brigade had lost up to 75% of its personnel. For these battles, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation on March 28, 2022, the brigade was awarded the honorary title 'Guards,' and the commander of a tank company and later the brigade commander himself, Colonel Andranik Gasparyan, received the title Hero of Russia. In summer-autumn 2022, the brigade fought on the right bank of the Dnipro, later operating in the Kherson direction as part of the 'Dnipro' grouping.
