Тимофеев Роман Вячеславович (по данным украинских источников, погиб в августе 2023 года) — Полковник, командир 72-й отдельной мотострелковой бригады
The 72nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade was formed in spring-summer 2022, primarily from volunteers of the BARS recruitment project of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and was deployed to Ukraine in August 2022 as part of the 3rd Army Corps. The brigade fought in Kherson and Kharkiv regions, in the LPR, then near Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) and Klishchiivka. In September 2022, during the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Kharkiv counteroffensive, it suffered significant losses. On May 9, 2023, Wagner PMC owner Yevgeny Prigozhin publicly accused the 72nd Brigade of fleeing positions south of Bakhmut, which had been left by 'Wagner' after assaulting the city — the accusation received widespread resonance in Russian and Ukrainian media. According to the Ukrainian 3rd Assault Brigade, its units inflicted heavy losses on the 6th and 8th companies of the 72nd Brigade in May 2023. As of early 2025, the brigade was fighting in the Kostiantynivka direction south of Chasiv Yar.
