The 80th Vitebsk Red Banner Command Brigade (military unit 19288) traces its history from a signal regiment formed in November 1941 in the Tambov region, which participated in the Stalingrad and Smolensk operations, as well as the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army in 1945. Since 1954, the unit has been based in Ussuriysk; in December 2010, the 86th separate signal regiment was reorganized into a command brigade as part of the 5th Guards Army.
