The 3rd Motorized Rifle Division (military unit 54046) is based in the border towns of Valuyki and Boguchar and since the start of the invasion, it has been among the main strike formations of the 20th Army in the Kharkiv-Luhansk direction — from the battles for Kharkiv in 2022 to the Lyman direction in 2023–2025.

Involvement in crimes / areas of activity
The 3rd Vislenskaya Motorized Rifle Division (20th Guards Army), re-established in December 2017 from the 9th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, is stationed 15 km from the border with Ukraine. Since February 2022, the division has fought in Kharkiv Oblast, then engaged the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Svatove–Kreminna sector; in 2023–2025, units of the division operated in the Lyman direction of the front.
