The 55th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade (Mountain), military unit 55115, is the only mountain formation of the Russian Armed Forces beyond the Urals, primarily staffed by natives of Tuva. The brigade participated in battles in Chernihiv and Luhansk Oblasts, near Avdiivka, and in the Pokrovsk direction. Colonel Andrey Kaminsky commands the brigade (as of November 2025).

The 55th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle (Mountain) Brigade was formed in 2015 as the only mountain formation of the Russian Ground Forces beyond the Urals; 1047 out of 1300 servicemen were recruited from natives of Tuva. As part of the 'Center' grouping, the brigade fought against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Chernihiv Oblast in March 2022, participated in battles for Lysychansk in June-July 2022, and then operated in the Lyman direction. In 2024, units of the brigade (which received the unofficial nickname 'Black Leopards') participated in battles for Avdiivka and in the offensive in the Pokrovsk direction.
