The 123rd Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade named after K. E. Voroshilov was formed on November 1, 2014, as the 2nd Motorized Rifle Brigade of the LPR People's Militia, based on the "Zarya," "Don," and "Huligan" battalions. Until January 1, 2023, it was part of the LPR People's Militia, then it was officially included in the Russian Armed Forces under the number 123 as part of the 2nd Army Corps and the 3rd Guards Combined Arms Army.
