The 18th Guards Motorized Rifle Division (military unit 90151) is a complex case of succession: in 2001, the 19th Separate Guards Reconnaissance Battalion was reformed into the 79th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade (military unit 90151, Gusev), which was given the regalia of the pre-war 18th Guards Motorized Rifle Division to preserve its combat glory. On December 1, 2020, the division itself was officially recreated as part of the 11th Army Corps of the Coastal Troops of the Baltic Fleet, and in April 2021, its historical regimental banners were solemnly presented in Gusev.
