The 184th Brigade of Water Area Protection Ships of the Black Sea Fleet, based in Novorossiysk, was involved in the 2014 operation to seize Crimea – this was documented by an InformNapalm investigation concerning the small anti-submarine ship 'Povorino'. The 184th Brigade of Water Area Protection Ships is the main ship formation of the Novorossiysk Naval Base of the Black Sea Fleet, which includes the 181st Division of small anti-submarine ships (small anti-submarine ships 'Povorino', 'Kasimov', 'Yeysk'). According to an InformNapalm investigation, the 184th Brigade of Water Area Protection Ships – specifically the small anti-submarine ship 'Povorino' – was confirmed to have participated in the 2014 operation to seize Crimea. The brigade also appears among the Black Sea Fleet formations involved in the current war against Ukraine (war-proekt.media), however, no specific combat episodes after 2022 have been found in open sources.
