Case summary
Denis Vladimirovich Pushilin has served as the head of the puppet "DPR" since November 2018. He was one of the organizers of the seizure of the Donetsk Regional Administration in 2014. Prior to his political career, he worked for the MMM2011 financial pyramid scheme. From 1999–2000, he served in the National Guard of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He assumed leadership of the pseudo-republic following the death of Alexander Zakharchenko. Pushilin actively supports policies that undermine Ukraine's territorial integrity. In December 2023, a Ukrainian court sentenced him in absentia to 15 years in prison for high treason and collaborationism.
He is subject to international sanctions by the EU, USA, UK, Canada, and Australia.
