Yevgeny Poddubny is a special military correspondent for VGTRK, head of the broadcaster's Middle East bureau, and the author and host of the program "War" on Rossiya-24.
For his combat zone reporting from the side of Russian forces, he was added to the UK sanctions list on May 4, 2022, alongside Komsomolskaya Pravda journalists Alexander Kots and Dmitry Steshin; according to several sources, he is also under sanctions by Canada, Australia, and Ukraine. He publicly refers to the restrictions imposed against him as a "recognition" of his work.
On August 7, 2024, he was wounded and concussed as a result of a Ukrainian FPV drone attack in Kursk Oblast, where he was reporting on the repulsion of the AFU invasion into the region, and was hospitalized first in Kursk and subsequently at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine in Moscow.
