The 83rd Separate Guards Air Assault Brigade, awarded the Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov (military unit 71289), was formed in 1986, is stationed in Ussuriysk, and is part of Russia's VDV (Airborne Forces) in the Eastern Military District. In the Special Military Operation zone, it was deployed in the Kharkiv (Vovchansk, 2023) and Kursk (2024–2025) directions; the brigade's artillery battalion is armed with D-30 howitzers.
