Gennady Nikolaevich Timchenko is a Russian oligarch and billionaire. He is the founder and owner of the private investment company Volga Group. Previously, he was a co-owner of the oil trading company Gunvor Group, selling his stake in 2014 after sanctions were imposed. Timchenko has been one of Putin's closest friends since the 1990s, having met in St. Petersburg.
Forbes estimates his net worth to be billions of dollars. His business interests include oil, gas, and petrochemicals, and he holds assets in SIBUR and Novatek. S. sanctions since 2014 (part of the first wave following the annexation of Crimea) and EU sanctions since 2022. Timchenko held Finnish citizenship until 2014 and is an active supporter of the Putin regime.
