Konstantin Lvovich Ernst has been the Director General of Channel One since 1999, a media manager, producer, and television presenter. Born in Moscow, he is referred to as the 'Kremlin's creative director' (The New Yorker).
He serves as President of the Media Industry Committee, a member of the Russian Television Academy Council, and a member of the National Association of Broadcasters Council. Ernst was the producer of the opening ceremony for the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
He is considered one of the main architects of Russian propaganda on Channel One, the largest television channel with the widest reach. He has been described as "a regime loyalist who earns astronomical sums" (quoted by Feygin). Ernst is currently under sanctions by the EU, USA, UK, and Canada.
